Lead Airside Operations in Cairo: Ramp Operations Manager – Air Arabia Egypt!

Air Arabia Egypt is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Ramp Operations Manager to join our team in Cairo. This is a pivotal leadership role for someone who understands that the heartbeat of any airline happens on the tarmac—where precision, safety, and efficiency come together to ensure every flight departs and arrives without a hitch. If you have deep experience in airside operations, a talent for leading teams, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we invite you to bring your expertise to one of the region's leading low-cost carriers.

Your Role: The Backbone of Our Ground Operations

As Ramp Operations Manager, you will take full ownership of all airside activities at our Cairo hub. Your primary mission is to ensure every aircraft turnaround is executed safely, smoothly, and in full compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. You'll be the key decision-maker on the ground, overseeing everything from resource planning and staff performance to safety protocols and equipment maintenance. This role requires a leader who can balance the big picture with the smallest operational detail—all while maintaining strong collaboration with internal teams, airport authorities, and service providers.

    What You'll Be Responsible For?

In this hands-on leadership role, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

    • Operational Oversight: Supervise all airside operations to meet performance standards, ensuring safety and efficiency align with company policies, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).
    • Team Leadership & Development: Coordinate the recruitment of operational personnel alongside HR, then guide, coach, and develop your team to build a performance-driven, engaged workforce. You'll monitor their growth, handle disciplinary matters when needed, and create an environment where people can thrive.
    • Resource Planning: Implement and monitor effective resource allocation to ensure adequate staffing and equipment are always available—adjusting quickly when operational needs shift.
    • Aircraft Turnaround Supervision: Maintain rigorous oversight of all turnaround activities, both those handled in-house and those managed by contracted service providers.
    • Safety & Risk Management: Monitor safety targets and performance indicators, taking immediate action on any concerning trends. Develop and implement mitigation strategies for potential safety and security risks in line with our Safety Management System (SMS) Manual. You'll also promote a culture where safety reporting is encouraged among all operational staff.
    • Compliance & Audits: Ensure full adherence to Health & Safety policies, regulatory requirements, and airport authority protocols. Conduct regular performance audits, using insights to drive process improvements both at the hub and at out-stations. Support internal and regulatory audits as needed.
    • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into any incidents, recommending preventive and corrective actions to maintain a secure work environment. Follow through to ensure these measures are implemented and effective.
    • Training & Development: Arrange and ensure training compliance for all operations personnel, evaluating effectiveness and identifying gaps. Collaborate with the corporate training department to keep programs aligned with industry standards.
    • Documentation & Manuals: Maintain accurate operations records and ensure timely reporting. Keep all Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions up to date, disseminating them to relevant departments and staff.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and sustain productive relationships with internal departments, airport authorities, and service providers. Act as the primary point of contact with ramp services providers for operational matters, supporting commercial discussions when required.
    • Continuous Improvement: Identify cost-saving initiatives and commercial opportunities. Continuously assess operational procedures for potential enhancements and lead business projects that drive operational excellence and innovation.
    • Emergency Response: Serve as a key point of contact for emergencies or critical situations on the airside, ensuring swift and effective resolution.
    • Leadership Support: Deputize for the Manager Ground Operations or Customer Services Manager when needed, and support oversight, projects, or inspections at out-stations as required.

    What We're Looking For?

The ideal candidate brings a combination of hands-on experience, leadership capability, and a meticulous approach to safety.

    • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
    • Experience: A minimum of 8 years in airside operations with an airline or ground handling provider, including at least 4 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
    • Operational Savvy: Proven ability to manage operations under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising safety or quality.
    • Communication Skills: Strong proficiency in report writing and presentation creation, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
    • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of safety, security, and health policies within the aviation industry.
    • Physical Requirements: Good physical fitness and the ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions on the airside.
    • Language: Fluency in English is essential.
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications.
